AWS Adoption Procedure
If you are interested in adopting an animal, please contact us in one of the following ways:
1. Telephone the shelter at (860) 354-1350
2. Visit the shelter during adoption hours (11am - 7 pm, Tuesdays and Wednesday -Saturday 11a.m.- 2 p.m.)

Get Assistance From Our Experts
By phoning our shelter first you can make an appointment to visit and get to know the animals at our facility. One of our experienced adoption specialists can discuss what type of pet you are looking for and introduce you to some of the animals which may be right for you! All of our staff members are highly trained and ready to lend you their expertise to ensure a successful adoption!
Adoption Applications
When you arrive at the shelter, you will need to complete an adoption application. Please note that applications must be filled out in person and cannot be emailed or faxed out. All adoptions are subject to review.
Spay and Neuter
All animals adopted from AWS are spayed or neutered. In the case of very young kittens or puppies, a spay/neuter contract must be signed before an adoption takes place.
Adoption Fees
A donation of the following amount is requested at the time of adoption:
Cats and Kittens: $100 / $ 125
Dogs and Puppies: $ 150 / $ 200
